Micah's Corner

Welcome to Colorado Springs!

Hi!  My name is Micah.  I’m the oldest son in the Sahhar Tribe.  In the cracks of time in my homeschool schedule and learning about real estate, I like to spend time building Lego creations, swimming, drawing, and learning about U.S. History.

It is so cool that we get to live in Colorado, where there are so many incredible people and places that bring history to life. Colorado history is full of brave adventurers, bold leaders, cowboys and pioneers, and fearless patriots. Colorado is a pretty awesome place to live!

Friends, I want to tell you about some fun places and interesting facts in Colorado history.  I want to share with you about some awesome people who lived and settled here to help make Colorado Springs such a beautiful place to live.

I’ll be your virtual tour guide around Colorado Springs.

All Aboard!

Rock Ledge Ranch

Historic Colorado Springs Site

Rock Ledge Ranch

Rock Ledge Ranch is a sweet little historic site on the west side of Colorado Springs, next to Garden of the Gods. This old homestead is like stepping into a time machine from 1862-1907. It all started when the Chambers Family traveled from Pennsylvania to Denver to improve Mrs. Chambers’ health. They settled a 160 acre homestead just between Camp Creek and Garden of the Gods. They bought this land for $1,400.00!

Kathrine Lee Bates

America the Beautiful

Katherine Lee Bates

Katharine Lee Bates was born on August 12th, 1859, in Falmouth, Massachusetts. What is really cool is that the poet was here in Colorado Springs, looking around at our beautiful backyard, admiring God’s creation from Pike’s Peak as she wrote this poem. It was set to music and now we sing this hymn because it reminds us of the U.S.’s rich beauty.
